The St. George Temple is the first temple built in Utah, and is the oldest operating Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Digging deeper into history of the St. George Temple
St. George Temple Foundation. The foundation of the St. George Temple was a very difficult problem to solve. There is an underground river that flows directly under the St. George Temple. The pioneers, with little engineering training learned how to solve the problem and create a firm foundation for the Temple of the Lord.

When the St. George Temple was built, it had a smaller Temple Spire. Brigham Young wanted the temple spire replaced with a larger more prestigious spire, but for multiple reasons the spire did not get replaced. Other Church Sites in St. George
Around the block from the St. George Temple is the Winter home of Brigham Young. This home is very special to the history of the Church. Brigham Young was very concerned with getting the endowment to the Saints, and getting the temple finished was priority for the Prophet. The St. George Tabernacle is another important historic building in St. George. This building was built for the gathering of the Saints, and was where important revelations were taught to the Saints. The St. George Tabernacle is where the prophet Lorenzo Snow promised the Saints of St. George, that if they would pay a full tithe the "Windows of Heaven" would open and pour down blessings on the Saints.
