One of the best things about the Temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the little details that make each temple unique. The Philadelphia Temple is truly a work of art and a beautiful nod to history.
There was an article written on the Philadelphia Temple(link at the bottom of page) by the Philadelphia Inquirer that explained about the details of the Philadelphia Temple. The article talked about the things the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints did well in building the temple. How the location and the way the temple was built bring beauty to the downtown square. It talks about how the Philadelphia Temple is a perfect backdrop for beautiful pictures.
In the conclusion of the article they said ”Church elders said their goal was emphasize this temple's connection to the city where America was founded and the Constitution written. Like the Mormon religion, which was established in this country in 1830, it sees its story as intertwined with the invention of America.”
As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints we have been taught that Heavenly Father prepared this land for the re-establishment of His Church. The Book of Mormon teaches of how Heavenly Father directed Christopher Columbus to the ”promise land”(1 Nephi 13:12). The Founding Fathers, the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, helped pave a way for The Church of Jesus Christ to be restored in our day. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Temple serves as a reminder and a connection to the people who came before and helped make a place for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to be here today.
The craftsmanship of the Philadelphia Temple has beautiful similarities to other historic buildings in Philadelphia. The Location of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Temple and the history of the Philadelphia area inspired much of the beautiful craftsmanship. Here is a link to a Youtube video of the details of the Philadelphia Temple. How and what inspired the temple building decisions.
