The John Johnson Farm in Hiram, Ohio served as Church Headquarters of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Joseph and Emma Smith lived in this home with the Johnson family for a year during the Kirtland Era.

The prophet Joseph Smith continued his work on translating the Bible in the upper room of the John Johnson home.
In the John Johnson home Joseph Smith received the revelation from Doctrine and Covenants 76. While he was receiving this revelation Joseph and Sidney Rigdon both saw God the Father and Jesus Christ. In this revelation they learned about the three degrees of glory.
It was in the John Johnson home where Joseph and Sidney Rigdon were dragged out by mobs in the night and tarred and feathered. Read this story here.
The Johnson family was converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when Elsa Johnson was miraculously healed of rheumatism in her shoulder.
Two of the Johnson’s sons, Luke and Lyman Johnson became members of the original Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
The Johnson’s daughter, Marinda, married Orson Hyde.
The Johnson’s fell away from the Church in 1837, although Luke returned to the faith and traveled with the Saints to Utah. Father Johnson died in 1843 in Kirtland where he is buried.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints bought the farm in 1956 and tours are available.
